This is a 2-second exposure of the South Platte River in Eleven Mile Canyon. It was taken with a neutral density filter.
I made basic adjustments in Adobe Camera Raw. In Photoshop I used the Spot Healing Brush to remove some artifacts. I added black & white and curves adjustment layers.
This photo was taken in Eleven Mile Canyon near Lake George, CO. There’s a spot in the river where the geese like to hang out. I think this goose has a sore throat and is gargling to make it feel better. Either that, or it swallowed someone’s car keys.

This is a 3-exposure HDR image taken in Eleven Mile Canyon near Lake George, CO. The exposures were 1, 1.6 and 3.2 seconds using a variable neutral density filter.
The three frames were blended and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro 5.0. After blending I used the Camera Raw filter in Photoshop to make basic adjustments and reduce chromatic aberrations and color noise. I used the HSL tool to remove the blue cast in the snow and increase the colors in the water. I removed some spots with the Spot Healing Brush. I added a curves adjustment layer and cropped.
OK boys and girls, it’s time for another quiz. Is this an HDR image or not? It was taken today in Eleven Mile Canyon near Lake George, CO. The weather was awesome, and we had a great time photographing the South Platte River. We saw several bald eagles, and at one point one flew right over our heads.
